Okoka Wetland
The garden is focussed on the Okoka Wetland, an area of Special
Ecological Significance, which adjoins the sandy, sheltered and
historic beach of Wharetane Bay (colloquially called Dead Dog Bay)
Pukeko, ducks, pheasants, wedge tailed hawks, and banded rail live
in the wetland.
To protect the breeding habitat it is important that dogs do not
come into the wetland area at all.
Information on the history and archeology of the site is provided
in the garden office and on Auckland Council signboards near the
sandy beach.

The bull rushes are at full hight now about 3 meter.
